Studio Visit: Hans Op de Beeck

Fifteen years ago, we visited the studio of Hans Op de Beeck with the Friends of M HKA. Those who were there will remember it as an extremely fascinating visit, not least because of the artist’s enthusiastic commentary.

Following his remarkable recent exhibition in Antwerp, several members asked whether it might be possible to visit Hans’s studio. For members who were not there at the time, for younger members, and also for those who would like to relive this experience, we asked the artist whether we might come by. We immediately received a positive reply.

To ensure the quality of this visit, capacity is limited to 29 people. For the operating costs of the visit, 750.00 euros will be charged, which comes to 26.00 euros per person. The lecture and visit, without drinks, last approximately 2 hours.

Programme

• A lecture with visual material by Hans Op de Beeck, followed by a Q&A in the cinema hall on the second floor of the studio. There is a seat for everyone. Hans has a wonderful voice and diction and speaks about his work with extraordinary eloquence and pleasure. He is highly versatile: he is a photographer, makes watercolours, films, maquettes and installations, both small and monumental in scale, writes texts, composes music and directs. His entire uncanny oeuvre is fictional and staged. He creates an enchanting world.

• Meet & greet in the reception area with a glass to friendship.
