Nomadisch Monument voor Gaza

On Sunday 29 March, De Wolkenbreier, HOPE Foundation, artist Leo Reijnders and M HKA are organising an art auction in support of art initiatives for children in Gaza. The auction forms part of the public programme accompanying our exhibition we refuse_d and takes place at the Voormalig Raamtheater in Antwerpen.

Small works by big names

On Sunday 29 March, Antwerp artists are making a powerful gesture of solidarity. In collaboration with M HKA, artist Leo Reijnders is organising an auction featuring work by artists from Antwerp and far beyond. The proceeds will go to HOPE Foundation, for the rebuilding of art initiatives for children in Gaza.

For the HOPE Foundation in Gaza

HOPE, short for Holland Office for Personal Encouragement, was founded more than thirty years ago in collaboration with the Red Crescent (PRCS) in Khan Younis. The initiative began with the Open Studio, where twelve teachers worked with children affected by trauma, with and without disabilities. Through artistic projects, they were given space to shape their lived world.

Over the years, HOPE has grown into an organisation with six permanent and many temporary projects, including creative summer camps. Since October 2023, the context has changed drastically, but artists and teachers continue to set up new initiatives. Today, HOPE supports eight teams in Gaza organising activities for children, including a travelling arts festival and a primary school for 500 pupils.

Come along, place a bid and help make a difference.
