Aanwinst
24 Feb - 26 May 2024

The exhibition “Aanwinst” ran in spring 2024 at C-mine Genk, introducing visitors to a selection of contemporary artworks from the impressive collection of the Flemish Community.
+++ This exhibition ran from 24 February to 26 May 2024 at C-Mine in Genk, Belgium. +++
Over the past decades, the Flemish Community has invested in acquiring contemporary artworks by both Belgian and international artists. This has resulted in an impressive collection built up over the years. However, most of this collection remains behind closed museum doors, with only a fraction on display in Flemish museums.
Alongside the exhibition, a seven-part documentary series called “Aanwinst” (acquisition in Dutch) was available on streaming platform VRT MAX. Each episode focused on one artist, offering an intimate glimpse into their life, work, and artistic vision. “Aanwinst” also provided an in-depth exploration of societal themes such as colonialism, identity, and activism, through the artworks featured in the exhibition.
