New museum
Antwerp boasts not only a rich art history but also a vibrant contemporary art scene, with the M HKA serving as a crucial hub. A new building for the M HKA will further energise the city’s contemporary visual art scene, both locally and globally.
With the new building, the Flemish Community is heralding a new era for the M HKA. It serves as a crucial catalyst for the further development of the Flemish contemporary art sector and its international recognition. In the new museum building, the M HKA can showcase its own contemporary art collections in a qualitative and sustainable manner while hosting leading international exhibitions. The M HKA also holds a significant social role, offering programming for a diverse audience and fostering participation from various communities. Six candidate designers have been chosen for the ambitious Flemish new building project for the M HKA, the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp.
